Mortgage Loan Specialist

Mortgage Loan Specialists are responsible for originating mortgage loans, conducting borrower interviews, analyzing credit histories, and staying informed about current regulations. Mortgage Loan Specialists will work closely with their manager and the processing team, ensuring all documentation is obtained as the loan moves through the process to closing. Mortgage Loan Specialists are assigned prospective borrowers through a proprietary system integrated with a Contact Relationship Manager system. Recording activities in the CRM system is a requirement. This position entails a high degree of training, feedback processing, managing activities and achievement of specific results.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Mortgage Loan Specialists are responsible for originating mortgage loans, conducting borrower interviews, analyzing credit histories, and staying informed about current mortgage loan regulations. This position requires Mortgage Loan Originator licensing through NMLS registry. Mortgage Loan Specialists will work closely with the processing team, ensuring all documentation is obtained as the loan moves through the process to closing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Following up on lead submissions and recording activity into contact management system
  • Processing inbound and outbound calls through the company phone system
  • Educating borrowers on the loan process and assisting them in identifying the appropriate loan
  • Collecting borrower financial/credit information
  • Processing borrower credit/income information through approval systems
  • Presenting loan options for borrowers including rates and fees for loans
  • Securing proper documentation and managing loan progress through processing/closing
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of loan programs offered including FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional loan programs
     

This position must be performed at the corporate office and is not eligible for a telework arrangement.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills along with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to work overtime as needed is required in accordance with the Loan Specialist Agreement
     

Physical Conditions/Requirements

  • Position requires the ability to hear and communicate clearly, orally and in writing
  • Uses vision to view screens, create and review documents; requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Capable of using a keyboard effectively
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk and may occasionally lift and move 25 pounds
  • Overtime hours may be required for this position
